Terms of Service
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Welcome to Bazaar. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the operators of Bazaar (“Bazaar,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using Bazaar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Bazaar.
1. Who can use Bazaar. Bazaar is exclusively for current University of Michigan students with a valid @umich.edu email address who are at least 18 years old. You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Bazaar is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the University of Michigan.
2. What Bazaar is. Bazaar is an online marketplace where UMich students list, discover, buy, sell, and book goods and services from one another. When you complete a purchase or booking through Bazaar, we facilitate the payment between buyer and seller and charge a service fee (see Section 3). Payments are handled by our third-party payment provider; Bazaar does not store your full card or bank details. Except for processing payments and charging our fee, the goods and services on Bazaar are provided by users, not by us — we are not the buyer or seller in any transaction. We do not own, produce, inspect, or guarantee any item or service listed, and we are not responsible for its quality, safety, legality, or delivery. This applies with particular force to tickets and other resold or digital items: we do not verify the authenticity, validity, or transferability of any ticket or resold item, and we cannot guarantee that a ticket will grant entry. Resold tickets and digital items can be duplicated, transferred more than once, or invalidated in ways that cannot be detected when a buyer and seller meet, and you buy them at your own risk. The seller is solely responsible for providing a genuine ticket they own and for transferring it only to the buyer.
3. Payments, fees, and payouts. When a buyer pays for a listing or booking, the payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. Bazaar charges a service fee on transactions, which we disclose before you complete a purchase (and to sellers before they list). We may change our fees at any time; the fee in effect at the time of a transaction applies. Sellers receive a payout equal to the transaction amount minus our service fee and any payment-processing fees, through our payment provider and subject to its payout schedule and requirements (sellers may need to provide additional information to the provider to get paid). You authorize us and our payment provider to charge your chosen payment method for purchases, fees, and subscriptions. You are responsible for any taxes on income you earn as a seller.
4. Refunds, cancellations, and disputes. Because goods and services are provided by users, refunds and cancellations are primarily between the buyer and seller — we encourage you to communicate and resolve issues directly. Bazaar may, at its discretion, help mediate a dispute, reverse a payment, or issue a refund, but is not obligated to and does not guarantee any outcome. Chargebacks and payment disputes are handled by our payment provider under its rules; abusing refunds or chargebacks may result in suspension.
5. Paid seller subscriptions. Bazaar may offer paid seller subscription plans (“tiers”) that unlock additional selling features. If you subscribe: the price, billing period, and included features are shown when you subscribe; subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until you cancel; you may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period; fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law; and we may change prices or features on a going-forward basis with notice. Subscription payments are processed by our third-party payment provider.
6. Your responsibilities. You are solely responsible for your listings, messages, transactions, and conduct, and for complying with all applicable laws (including any tax obligations on money you earn). You agree to follow our Community Rules, which are part of these Terms. You will not post anything false, misleading, illegal, infringing, or prohibited.
7. Content you post. You keep ownership of the content you post (listings, photos, messages, profile info). You grant Bazaar a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and promote the service. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload. We may remove content or listings that violate these Terms or the Community Rules.
8. Safety. Meet in public, on-campus locations when possible, inspect items before paying, and use your judgment. For tickets and digital items, confirm the item has transferred to your own account before you reveal your handoff code — meeting in person cannot reveal whether a ticket has been duplicated or invalidated. Bazaar does not conduct background checks on users and is not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or offline.
9. Suspension & termination. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or the Community Rules, or to protect the community. You may stop using Bazaar and request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
10. Disclaimers. Bazaar is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that users are trustworthy, that transactions will be completed, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Bazaar will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, for the acts or omissions of any user, for the quality or safety of any item or service, or for any dispute between users. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bazaar will not exceed the total service fees you paid us in the three months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold the operators of Bazaar harmless from any claims or demands arising out of your use of Bazaar, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes. We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date, and continued use after changes means you accept them.
14. Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
15. Contact. Questions about these Terms: support@mycampusbazaar.com.
